Eva Mendes’ friends tell her when she makes fashion mistakes.
The ‘Spirit’ actress always turns to her close pals when she is unsure whether a new look suits her because she knows they will tell her the truth.
She said: “I like criticism, if it’s constructive. I have a great group of girlfriends who will tell me, ‘Maybe that hair colour isn’t the best on you.’ I love their honesty.
“I can be honest with myself too, but the moment I start to be too self-critical I stop. I think, ‘No, I’m not going to take that from myself. I wouldn’t say that to my best friend, so why say it to myself?’ ” Read more…
It’s no argument that the comic book genre has taken the film industry by storm these last few years. With “Sin City” and “300″ both box office sensations, writer/director Frank Miller seemed to be blessed with a golden lens, being a visionary and pioneer for the new innovative genre. Despite all this though, Miller’s latest work “The Spirit” failed to capitalize on his potential.
“The Spirit” tells the story of a police officer named Denny Colt (played by Gabriel Macht), who is gunned down in a line of fire, only to be mysteriously brought back to life. Discovering his power of immortality, Colt transforms himself into a masked superhero, watching over his beloved city and protecting it from criminals. Read more…
Before you go getting all excited, believe us when we say there is nothing too steamy here! Most of Eva Mendes favorite bedroom activities seem to involve food, “I have so many guilty pleasures! One of them is to eat in bed while watching television.” Mendes told Fox News, “It sounds kind of gross, but I absolutely love it.”
She also shared some pointers about what to avoid if indulging in boudoir snacking, “I’ve learned however, that eating Indian may not be such a good thing to have in the bedroom. I’ve made that mistake before, so never again! But I am a huge snacker so you’ll always find me indulging in something.” Read more…
Score one for the bad guys, I guess. The Mexican Drug War has been dominating the news lately and apparently they’re so evil they’re even invading the Hollywood trades. The film version of Arturo Perez-Reverte’s novel Queen of the South, which was to star Eva Mendes, Josh Hartnett and Ben Kingsley, has kicked the bucket thanks to death threats from a drug cartel.
In Queen of the South, Mendes plays Teresa, a Mexican drug smuggler’s girlfriend who runs away to Spain when he is killed. There, she becomes involved with another drugrunner, Santiago (played by that great Spanish actor, Josh Hartnett… Wait, what?). Under his wing and gunning for revenge, Teresa eventually rules Spain’s drug underworld. Read more…

Confession of a shopaholic!
Eva Mendes says “Charge it” so often, her credit card is literally worn out!
Eva picked up a Chanel belt, two YSL dresses, two beaded tops and a pair of white frame sunglasses at L.A.’s What Comes Around Goes Around. But when she hit the register, Eva was embarrassed to find her card couldn’t pay for her haul: The magnetic stripe was practically nonexistent!
Before the cashier could type it in by hand, Eva’s boyfriend, George Gargurevich, stepped in to pay the bill.
Phew!
